There’s nothing like feeling the keys of the keyboard under my fingertips. There’s something freeing about writing. I can say what comes to my mind and not have to worry about it coming out perfect; I can always edit later if I need to. I’ve been writing since I can remember. In 5th grade, there was a girl in my class who shared a poem with the class. I thought to myself, “I can do that!”, and I did. I fell in love with writing and poetry. My grandpa Bernie always said I was going to be a writer. What he didn’t know is that I already was. In college, I wrote a 25 page paper in Spanish all within one night. I got a passing grade on it. I think I got a 78 on it or something (which is pretty damn good for an all nighter).
There are no rules in free writing. It’s an unbelievable feeling to create and paint a picture of emotion with words.
I’ll leave you with this; my latest free-write, called “Transformation”:
And so, her world turned a bit brighterthat day. There was blue in the sky again. A spark in her soul that could be seen from space. Her eyes shined in hues of green that even a rainbow couldn’t touch. There was something new about her. She was a stranger to herself in the best way.
Sending love and light, Kel.
