Invent Yourself

I saw this quote and was immediately inspired to write on it. Here’s what I’m thinking:

Invent yourself. It doesn’t say “reinvent yourself”. I think in black & white, so I’m always comparing myself to my “yesterday self”. If I’m not better than the day before, or at least maintaining, then I tend to get down on myself, which, then possibly leads to self-sabotage. The concept of inventing yourself makes all of the above obsolete. If I just remember that today, this day, I get to invent whoever and whatever I want to be, there’s an opportunity for me to stop comparing to yesterday. Odds are I’m going to invent a Kelly who is caring, kind, compassionate, and loving; taking a spiritual approach towards these things, and directing them towards others and herself as well.

I’m not worse or better than my “yesterday self”. I’m gradually growing in mind and spirit. Taking this day (because all we really have is this one) and inventing myself for that single day. This gives a direct focus on my intentions within a short enough time span to make those intentions a reality. After that, a new day comes and I have choice in whether I stick with the same intentions, or invent a whole new combination that might fit that day better.

Today my overall intention is peace. I envision a Kelly who is not anxious or worried. A Kelly who breathes in and out deeply and calmly. She calls on her Spirit Guide to protect her and sends out that light to her family and friends. She has the intention of trust in herself, too. That she’ll speak when she needs to speak, and stay quiet when she doesn’t. She trusts herself to take care of her body, nourishing it with balanced nutrition, adding more movement into her life, and breathing clean air into her lungs by quitting smoking.

These intentions are not meant to challenge me, rather, to elevate me into higher vibrations. Thinking of them as challenges immediately cuts away any inspiration. They are intentions set toward elevating one’s growth spiritually, mentally, and physically.

Overall, inventing yourself every day can be a great way to begin to heal, because now it’s not about one’s “yesterday self”.

It’s now about growth.

Sending love and light, Kel.
