A Little Sunshine

I’m sitting at the kitchen table soaking up the morning sun that’s coming through the sliding glass door. I woke up early today: 5:45am. I’m usually asleep until 9 or 10am. It’s nice to wake up with the sun. It’s hopeful.

I’ve decided that today I want to go on an adventure! I want to take some photos for my gallery as well. I’m going to head over to the arboretum. And, it just so happens that today is Arbor Day! Celebration of the trees! It reminds me of The Lorax.

I feel very spiritual whenever I’m amongst nature. I go to the forest preserve often. It brings me serenity.

There’s something very grounding about the forest. It’s calm. It helps me to be calm. It’s a perfect spot for mindfulness. I get to smell the scent of the forest. I can hear the birds sing and squawk. The sunshine beats down through the leaves and lightly touches the earth below. It’s amazing to me.

Starting my day early early today was the best thing that could’ve happened. As I sit at the table, drinking my coffee with cream and writing this post, I’m reminded of all the beauty Mother Nature has to offer. It’s a wonderful thing to be able to appreciate that.

Sometimes all we need to “reset” is a little sunshine and a grateful heart.

Sending love and light, Kel.
