No Obligation

This quote really struck me. I’ve had my fair share of criticism in my life. I don’t take it well. I take everything personally! It’s part of who I am. I’m learning how to let these criticisms go. “I am under no obligation to make sense to you” means, to me, that I’m free to be me! I live in my world. No one else has to understand. No one can understand 100%. That’s the beauty of it. Everyone’s unique.

When I’m people pleasing or doing things because I’m afraid of confrontation, I’m extinguishing my authenticity. I do tend to automatically say and do things in order to not “rock the boat”. I find that this doesn’t really serve my highest good anymore. It was a survival mechanism for me growing up. Now I’m an adult who knows that I deserve to speak my mind!

I find it beautiful that everyone sees the world differently. Everyone experiences the same exact day in a whole different way. No one on earth has the same story. That’s wonderful!I sometimes think there’s another Earth somewhere in the universe that human beings live on. Maybe there’s someone out there who does have my story (or close to it)! Who knows? All that to say, no one knows me through and through. People know pieces of me; of what I show them. I don’t have to make sense to anybody. If I’m living by my values and doing the best I can then I’m sure it makes no difference whether people understand. It’s my story to live.

If you’re struggling with finding your voice and living your truth in spite of what others may think, take a day to try to not let other people get to you. Let criticisms and judgments roll off your back like water off a tephlon pan. No one will understand completely, and that’s okay! They aren’t supposed to. It’s your unique perspective of life that makes you an individual. No one can see through your eyes or feel what your heart feels. I think that’s so cool! Everyone has a story to tell. So, let your uniqueness shine. You’re under no obligation to make sense to anyone.

Sending love and light, Kel.
